This section of the page will be where all meetings, events and information will be posted. Updates should happen regularly, so check back often.
- The Photography Society's AGM took place on Tuesday March 13. A general and executive committee were elected and are listed in the contact section of this page. Congratulations to the 2001 committee members and thank you to everyone who turned up.
- The first of several short courses will be run soon, with a theme of "how to use your SLR camera to take the shots you want" (An SLR is a Single Lens Reflex Camera - one of those big cameras with the detachable lenses and lots of buttons and dials. See you are learning things already!). It will cover such how cameras take pictures, what exposure means (not necessarily the indecent kind), what some of those buttons and dials do, and the basics of composition. Look out in future emails or on this page for more info.
- We are now able to offer you 10% discounts at PRA Photographics, 63 Newcastle st Perth, ph 9225-4677. PRA is a great place to buy all sorts of camera, film, digital and darkroom supplies. If you are thinking of setting up your own Darkroom, or already have one, PRA have seriously got all the shit you will need. We are also still in negotiations with University Cameras to get you a great deal on mini-lab processing. We?ll keep you posted!
- The bulk purchasing power of the club allows us to buy film in 30 meter rolls, which we can then put into canisters ourselves and sell to you at prices significantly below the retail cost. At the moment we are selling Ilford XP2, which is a 400ASA black and white film that can be processed at any normal minilab where you get your colour prints done. A roll of 16 shots is only $2, with a $1 deposit on the canisters, which we can use again. To buy some film email or call Ciaran on 9316-2127. For those who bought film on O-day, we are very keen to see what you did with it, and hope to put a few of the shots on the website, so get in contact!
