THE PHOTOGRAPHY SOCIETY

Photography is today the most common and accessible form of visual expression. It can also be the most powerful. However, many are not aware of how easy it is to take, develop and print a photograph good enough to hang on their wall. Others are put off by the high price of materials. Some simply can't find a forum to exhibit and share their work.

We at the Photography Society seek to overcome these problems and allow students from all across campus access to photography. We believe photography is a universal and democratic medium - anyone can take expressive, creative photos and learn the skills to present their point of view to the world.

To this end the club aims to:
  • Promote the medium of photograpy as a form of creativity within the university,
  • Provide cheap access to materials and equipment,
  • Provide students with access to information and know-how on all aspects of photography,
  • Provide exposure for students' work through a website and other media,
  • Bring together the work of as many students as posible in a judged exhibition.

Not all of these aims may be reached in the first year but we believe the exhibition of students' work is a priority.

Thank you.
